Shooting in Swedish town - several injured in different locations


Four men have been hospitalised after a shooting in a town at the southern tip of Sweden, regional police have confirmed.

Gunshots were heard in the market Thursday night local time 8am (AEDT) and the gunman is still on the loose, according to several media reports.

Two people were apparently shot in the incident, which occurred near the town's main shopping street, while two others received other injuries, he said.

'When we arrived at the scene, several people with gunshot injuries were found.

Swedish police said four people were rushed to hospital but the seriousness of their conditions is not yet known.

A local resident told local media: "There were many shots. We saw someone running outside", an eyewitness told the Swedish publication Expressen.

Another said: "I was at home at my computer when I heard a loud bang".

He added: "Right now, it's blocked off".
