Most pro sports teams have stopped staying at Trump hotels


The news comes on the heels of a Washington Post report which revealed that 11 of the 12 teams that regularly stayed at the Trump SoHo hotel while visiting New York City have stopped doing so since Trump launched his presidential campaign in 2015. Now, 16 of those teams have confirmed they stopped doing business with Trump. But it's unclear if the New Orleans Pelicans, who've also stayed at the once-popular spot for pro teams, will be in that number.

Most of the teams National Basketball Association teams that have recently stopped saying at Trump properties did so after the 2016-17 season, it added.

Most of the teams stopped visiting Trump properties within the past year, while others like the NBA's Dallas Mavericks and Indiana Pacers reportedly began staying elsewhere as early as 2014.

Some of the franchises said the reason for the change had nothing to do with politics, but was rather due to the logistical challenges of getting in and out of hotels during their stay - specifically lower Manhattan to stay at the Trump Soho hotel.

According to the Post, a dozen teams have stayed at Trump's SoHo hotel since its opening in 2010.

While NFL teams typically don't stay at luxury hotels like Trump's due to their massive teams and support staff, other teams do.

"I'm proud to not stay in Trump hotels", Parker said.
