Irish cricketers to play Pakistan in first test match

South Africa will play Zimbabwe in cricket's first four-day test on December 26 and Richardson said that while the concept was still in the trial phase it should help Afghanistan and Ireland, who were granted test status in June, get up to speed faster.

International Cricket Council chief executive Dave Richardson has confirmed the proposed test championship as of 2019 and a one-day international league as of 2020.

Cricket Ireland announced on Thursday, that it had been finalised that the nation's first ever 5-day game would be played against Pakistan at home.

Reflecting on the move, ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar said, "I would like to congratulate our Members on reaching this agreement and putting the interests of the development of the game first".

"Our priority was to develop (a) structure that gave context and meaning across global cricket and particularly in the Test arena", ICC chief David Richardson said in a statement.

"The ICC Board decision means we can now go and finalise a playing schedule.as well as the points system, hosting arrangements and competition terms".

The process for the appointment of the ICC female independent director was confirmed and the recruitment will get underway in the coming week.
