Fortnite developer reportedly suing cheating players

Let's face it, Fortnite now has all of these players looking at the title specifically because it is no longer Fortnite, it's Fortnite Battle Royale. As such, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is the only game that has hit the two million goal for concurrent players.

Epic also highlights the fact that the cheater's are actively breaking the games EULA - "The software the Defendant uses to cheat infringes Epic's copyrights in the game and breaches the terms of agreements to which Defendant agreed in order to have access to the game".

While PUBG was the originator of the battle-royale craze, Epic Games saw the opportunity to benefit from the hype and released the mode both as a free-to-play - in retrospect, it was quite possibly the best thing the studio could've done.

One defendant was banned from Fortnite nine times, according to the complaint, but he registered other accounts under different names to continue playing.

Mark Hunt Threatens UFC With Lawsuit
It's interesting to see Hunt refer to the Player's Voice article as an "interview" as he was quoted as author on the story. The No. 5 "Super Samoan" took to social media to voice his displeasure over the removal with UFC president Dana White .

Epic has also stated that they will be constantly working against both the cheating players AND the cheat providers, and, apparently, this is just the first step. While Battlegrounds explicitly forbids cheating and stream-sniping in its rules of conduct, Fortnite'sonly explicitly forbids cheating.

When Epic Games altered Fortnite's code to prevent further cheating, the second defendant allegedly leveled up the Fortnite cheat, adding, "Now method is exposed".

Defendant's cheating, and his inducing and enabling of others to cheat, is ruining the game playing experience of players who do not cheat. "We take cheating seriously, and we'll pursue all available options to make sure our games are fun, fair, and competitive for players".

For Fortnite, this jump to Battle Royale seems to have reinvigorated the game, which only had 1m players on its release and has reached all-time high player counts since it's last man standing iteration.
