Trump meets top military advisors to discuss North Korea options

Over the weekend, Trump said on social media that "only one thing will work" on North Korea, though did not specify what the solution might be.

"The worldwide community has spoken but that means the USA army must stand ready, and so if you're ready, that's your duty at this point in time".

"It would be frightful, there's no question about it, but so would an intercontinental ballistic missile striking Los Angeles or New York City".

This year, North Korea tested an intercontinental ballistic missile that could potentially reach the USA mainland, and the US intelligence community assesses it has the technology to miniaturize a nuclear warhead atop it. We need to gain self sufficiency and handle this economic crisis that a five year old could solve.

The tussle between North Korea and USA along with its allies has taken an ugly turn Tuesday when a South Korean Lawmaker has alleged that North Korean hackers have stolen classified military documents from South Korean Defense Ministry database in September 2016.

Milley made it clear that although the military stands ready to fight even a horrific fight, it's up to the commander in chief to decide when and if they fight. He said, "I'm not going to address the specifics of that discussion but what I will tell you is that it is a ROK-US alliance commitment to make sure that they safeguard operations and plans". The messages seem to suggest that the president considers military action the most viable approach to handling North Korea.

According to a report by Politico, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis on Monday is urging military leaders "to be ready" with military options against North Korea should diplomacy fail.

Tensions between the United States and North Korea have escalated in the past few months.

Mattis embraced the current diplomatic approach to the crisis, including the UN-led sanctions on the regime supported by the global community. "And there will be decisions made, there's no question about it", he added.

"We currently are in a diplomatically-led effort, and how many times did you see in the U.N. Security Council vote unanimously, now twice in a row, to impose stronger sanctions on North Korea?"

Despite almost 25 years of talks with North Korea, it has been able to develop nuclear bombs and the missiles needed to deliver them.
