HC rejects bail plea, stays Ryan trustees' arrest till Friday evening

Mumbai: The father of Pradyuman Thakur (7), whose throat was slit in Gurgaon's Ryan International School, on Wednesday approached the Bombay High Court, seeking dismissal of the anticipatory bail pleas filed by trustees and founders of the school.

However, the father of the murdered child also approached the court yesterday and filed a plea opposing the pre-arrest bail application of the Pintos.

The court, however, granted an extension of stay on remand for 24 hours on the condition that the Pintos deposit their passports with the police commissioner by 9 pm on Thursday.

The Pintos plan to rush to New Delhi and move the Supreme Court on Friday morning to seek anticipatory bail, or the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chandigarh, informed sources close to the trustees said. The HC has, however, adjourned the matter for hearing till Thursday, extending the interim protection from arrest to the Pinto family.
