Kyrgios came from behind to beat Darcis in a thrilling five-set match on Friday, and with a Davis Cup record of seven wins in eight matches, he has the form to secure Australia a spot in the final. Kyrgios defeated Steve Darcis 6-3, 3-6, 6-7 (5/7), 6-1, 6-2 on Friday while Goffin saw off John Millman 6-7 (4/7), 6-4, 6-3, 7-5.

On the indoor red clay court in Lille, France, two-time Grand Slam champions Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert of France beat Filip Krajinovic and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia 6-1, 6-2, 7-6 (3).

But Dusan Lajovic made the most of Luca Pouille's inconsistent display to give Serbia a 1-love lead.

In the absence of Novak Djokovic, Viktor Troicki and Janko Tipsarevic, the French were expected to enjoy a calm weekend in the northern city of Lille.

In Brussels, Australia edged closer to a first Davis Cup final in 14 years on Saturday when Jordan Thompson and John Peers swept past Arthur De Greef and Ruben Bemelmans 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 for a 2-1 lead in their semi-final.

Belgium are bidding to appear in the final again after losing out to Britain in 2015, while Australia are looking for a first title since 2003.

"Hang in there", Eichort said. "We have to stick together and there is no way out of a hole like this without working", he said. After a three-and-out by the Huskies' offense to start the fourth quarter, Nebraska's offense came on the field ready to play.

Mahut, who has been hampered by a calf injury in recent weeks, thanked the medical staff for enabling him to play. "It's always important in Davis Cup".

They had far too much for Krajinovic and Serbia's 41-year-old player-captain Zimonjic, coming back from 5-2 down in the third set to wrap up the win in straights sets.

"It would have been extremely hard to play five sets", Lajovic said.

But the relief did not last.

The French need to win one of the two singles matches on Sunday to advance to the finals for the 18th time.

Mahut and Herbert put in a dominant performance for France winning 6-1, 6-2, 7-6 at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium, with the match played under a closed roof due to a poor weather forecast.
