The hospital was locked down following reports of an active shooter.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon is now locked down following reports of an active shooter in the hospital.

Lebanon police said Tuesday there were reports of an active shooter at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, the state's largest hospital.

The hospital said it's assessing the situation and that Lebanon and N.H. State Police are on-site. It is not clear if the lockdown has been lifted. There is no confirmation that shots have been fired, though employees have been told to either evacuate or shelter in place.

Police in the town of Lebanon confirmed that one suspect was arrested shortly before 3 p.m., 90 minutes after the initial alert.

A spokesman for the hospital, Mike Barwell, would say only that they have reported "an incident" to police and that officers are responding.

The Attorney General's office said this is an unfolding investigation and additional information will be provided as soon as possible while still protecting the integrity of the investigation.

Heavily-armed police forces are on the scene at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
