Wenger rules Alexis Sanchez out of Arsenal clash with Leicester City

Amid all the talk about new contracts and leaving Arsenal over the summer, Alexis Sanchez has been focusing on his private life.

It is a major boost for Arsenal fans, who will be delighted to hear that the Chilean has returned to training and will be hoping that his return means he will remain at the Emirates for the rest of the season.

The 28-year-old will miss Friday night's Premier League opener against Leicester and next weekend's match at Stoke with an abdominal injury.

Alexis Sanchez' future is still in doubt as Arsenal are in a diffcult situation.

Wenger said Sanchez would not have started against Leicester even if he wasn't injured. "He practised well today, this morning, had a good session for the first time because he had a little muscular strain".

Wenger added: "For us Alexis Sanchez is a loss, of course". They are on (Kylian) Mbappe's case, that's what I read in the papers.

Sanchez has been linked with a move away from the Emirates

"It is a relief and I believe as well a reminder to the players that they have hurdles on the way and that we can get round it, like tonight so that is quite positive".

The Frenchman also dismissed media reports linking Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with rival Chelsea.

This new "injury" has seen him watch Arsenal's opener from the stands and he is also forecast to miss Arsenal's next game at Stoke, which is also very odd as we have previously seen Sanchez take to the field when practically wearing crutches as he hates missing any chance to play. "I don't think I would have started him", he said.

Wenger says Wilshere is not fully fit and that's why he wasn't included in their squad to face Leicester on Friday. "I just think we are not open - what I said to you many times - to any offers, anyway". "He's very conscious of his qualities, he was not always".

"I will focus more on the players who had the right number of competitive minutes in recent weeks".
