The attack came a day after two army men were killed while three others were injured after the forces engaged in an encounter with the militants in Shopian district of south Kashmir.
Meanwhile, clashes erupted in Trichal village of southern Pulwama district on Saturday after the security forces arrived there to launch a cordon-and-search operation against the militants reportedly hiding in the village. The Army also confirmed that they had recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition and also ration, medicines with Pakistani markings.
"Injured police personnel have been referred to hospital", the spokesman said. However, there is no confirmation about the number of militants killed in the operation.
The area has been cordoned, as around three terrorists are believed to be holed up and attempts are being made to smoke them out.
After injuring two policemen and an army trooper in Hajin area of distirct Bandipora, militants have managed to escape from the area. The Army quickly launched a search operation in the area but no arrests were made, the police sources said.
