Janata Dal (United) sacks Sharad Yadav as party leader in Rajya Sabha

"JD (U) is not only Nitish Kumar's party, it is also my party", said Yadav in Bihar's Madhepura district on the last day of his 3-day tour of Bihar aimed at mobilising people against the JD (U)-BJP alliance.

In another development, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah invited the JDU to rejoin the NDA. "The JD (U) will formally pass a resolution during the national executive meeting in Patna to join the NDA on August 19".

On Friday as well, the Bihar Chief Minister had cracked down on JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav for going against the party's decision saying he should accept the party's decision or he is free to go wherever he wants.

He said it was the people who had made the Grand Alliance of RJD, JD-U and Congress in the 2015 Bihar Assembly polls and given their mandate to rule for five years.

The final nail in the coffin came today when Sharad Yadav was removed from the post of leader of Janata Dal (United) in Rajya Sabha.

The name of JD-U's Rajya Sabha member Ram Chandra Prasad Singh is doing the rounds as the new leader of the parliamentary party.
