Floods claimed five lives in Assam in last 24 hours with incessant rains in all bordering areas as well as within the state leading to rising water levels of all major rivers, affecting over 10 lakh population and train movement.
"We have opened 268 relief camps that are housing 63,797 people".
Crop land damage was in areas of 1,00,441.70 hectares.
Armed forces and disaster relief forces, engaged in relief and rescue operations, evacuated 2,615 stranded people. The army has also been put on standby for emergency rescue operation, sources added.
Later talking to mediapersons, the Chief Minister said that his government's first priority is to provide relief materials to all flood-hit people at this hour and all Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to ensure adequate flood relief to affected people.
The worst affected are Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh in upper Assam and Chirang, Kokrajhar and Bongaigaon in lower Assam.
The water level in the main channel of Brahmaputra River is flowing above the danger mark in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Tezpur and Dhubri while at least eight of its tributaries are also flowing above the danger level, according to the report of Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).

Rains in Bhutan have also fed the rivers of the state.
In Arunachal Pradesh, the unrelenting monsoon rainfall is creating havoc across the state with reports of floods and road blockades pouring in from various quarters. Nearly all trains are running late in North Bengal due to continuous rainfall.
