Google CEO Pichai Cancels Gender Dispute Meeting

Needless to say, the reasons he gives are not a surprise.

Damore's views came after Google's Indian-born CEO Sundar Pichai addressed a coding event for girls on the sprawling campus at Mountain View, California, after the manifesto claimed that "the representation gap between men and women in software engineering persists because of biological differences between the two sexes".

James Damore, the engineer fired by Google after penning a memo crtiticizing the company's diversity policy, published an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal explaining "Why I was sacked by Google".

A Google engineer fired for criticising the tech giant for its diversity policy continued his blitz against the company and dubbed his former workplace a "cult".

There were a number of defining moments throughout this tense week at Google.

Google is known for being a "good" company that cares about its employees but a recent scandal over gender discrimination makes us rethink that. The document slammed Google's "politically correct monoculture" and advanced gender stereotypes about women in the workplace. On the profile image, he sports a T-shirt with the word "Goolag" spelled out mimicking the Google logo.

My objective here instead is to relate another Google bias-claims-and-employee-privacy story from last month, which would have counted as fairly significant news in its own right had it not soon been eclipsed by the memo episode. It quickly spilled over into an all-out culture war outside the company, putting Google and its employees in the crosshairs.

James Mattis: Military solution in place to address North Korea threat
Speaking to journalists at his New Jersey golf club, the President said that he didn't think his comments had been "tough enough". On Tuesday , Trump warned North Korea not to make any more threats against the United States.

Man Utd return to negotiating table for Inter Milan ace Perisic
Spalletti's claims add further weight to remarks he made last month that United's deal for Perisic was dead in the water. Jose Mourinho has said Inter Milan "put up a good defence" as Manchester United sought to sign winger Ivan Perisic .

MLB Predictions: Will Angels & Mariners slug Friday night in Seattle? 8/11/17
Nolasco threw a complete-game shutout against the Mariners earlier this year but fell victim to the long ball on Friday . Reliever Casey Lawrence allowed two runs in the seventh inning, and Tony Zych allowed three more in the eighth inning.

The town hall meeting late on Thursday was cancelled, according to Recode, after some employees reportedly expressed the fear that they would be targets of online harassment if they speak up and ask questions in the meeting.

Damore has emerged as a hero of conservative media. Fired4Truth, widely believed to be Damore's Twitter account, is closing in on 50,000 followers in a matter of days.

Damore has already filed a formal complaint with the National Labor Relations Board, claiming his rights were violated. Critics of Damore's firing are planning to protest outside Google offices in five USA cities. It also faces an ongoing investigation from the Department of Labor over how it pays women. "For many, including myself, working at Google is a major part of their identity, nearly like a cult with its own leaders and saints". And some are anxious that you can not speak out at work freely.

Then, Damore created a companywide discussion group for the document.

"I am a moderately conservative Googler", one employee wrote, "and I am and have been scared to share my beliefs".

"We are going to raise awareness about Google's one-sided bias and campaign against dissenting opinions and voices", activist and protest march organizer Jack Posobiec, a self-identified member of the "new right" that seeks to distance itself from the white-power politics of the alt-right, told this news organization via Twitter. "What is leadership doing to ensure Googlers like me feel invited and accepted, not just tolerated or safe from angry mobs?"
