Ryan Tannehill Out For 2017 With Surgery On ACL

Miami Dolphins starting quarterback #Ryan Tannehill will be out for the season as he will undergo knee surgery on his left knee.

Tannehill injured his knee in training camp on August 3, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Tannehill went down with a non-contact injury last week while scrambling toward the sidelines.

Pliskova benefited from an ailing Osaka, who was forced to retire in the third set as she trailed the top seed 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 1-0. Halep does have a bit of a bone to pick with the crowd support she has been receiving. "I want to thank them", Halep said.

One source told Schefter that Tannehill's knee was "a ticking time bomb that was going to go off at any time" after he opted not to have it surgically repaired following a partial ACL tear during a Week 14 game against the Arizona Cardinals last season. Tannehill will be placed on injured reserve, the person said.

It's unclear how long it will take Tannehill to be declared healthy again but depending on the severity of the injury it could range from eight to 12 months, which could make Tannehill, 29, available for the 2018 season. With Tannehill under contract for several more seasons, the job should be waiting for him next year. Before that injury, Tannehill had never missed a game since Miami drafted him with the eighth overall pick in the 2012 draft. They answered that question by signing Jay Cutler to a one-year, $10 million deal even before a decision had been made about surgery for Tannehill. The Dolphins will turn the page and move forward with Cutler this season. But the year before, 2015, had been arguably Cutler's best statistically with 3,659 passing yards, a 64.6 completion percentage, and 21 touchdowns against 11 interceptions.
