Amid increasing tensions with North Korea, President Donald Trump has taken to Twitter to highlight comparisons between his leadership and that of former president Barack Obama, including an unscientific, almost week-old poll asserting he is the better president.
However, according to an article in the Boston Globe, quoting an expert in the realm of presidential power, Trump has nearly "unchecked authority to order the use of conventional or nuclear weapons against North Korea".
However, when talking about North Korea this week, Trump's statement threatening North Korea "with fire and fury like the world has never seen" is nothing to joke about. "It is now far stronger and more powerful than ever before", Mr Trump tweeted.
Mr Trump's claims about the nuclear arsenal came after North Korea said it was considering plans for a missile strike on the US Pacific territory of Guam. "Hopefully we will never have to use this power, but there will never be a time that we are not the most powerful nation in the world!'"
Trump issued a presidential memorandum on January 27 that, among other things, directed the secretary of defense to initiate a Nuclear Posture Review "to ensure that the United States nuclear deterrent is modern, robust, flexible, resilient, ready, and appropriately tailored to deter 21st-century threats and reassure our allies".

Huddersfield Town - Aaron Mooy has been one of its big signings and he was terrific last season, but it's going to be a tough one in the Premier League for it.
The sharp increase in tensions prompted U.S. secretary of state Rex Tillerson to try to play down the rhetoric.
Nowhere is that reality more visible than the latest crisis involving North Korea's growing nuclear threat.
"He's saying, 'Don't test America and don't test Donald J". "We are not just a superpower".
Trump's unprecedented warning against North Korea came last night, a short while after The Washington Post's initial report yesterday that North Korea has successfully built miniaturized nuclear warheads for its ICBMs. We are now a hyper power.
