Overwatch has been an objective-based shooter since its launch a year ago, but that hasn't kept fans asking for traditional deathmatch modes. The modes will be a part of PTR today (PC only) and likely come to the rest of us in the coming weeks.
A new game mode is on the way to the Overwatch Arcade, and it's actually one of the oldest of them all: Deathmatch, the classic game of kill everything that moves (while everything that moves tries to do the same to you) is now live on the PTR.
The Deathmatch game mode will have its own scoreboard and two varieties players can choose to play. It is essentially Rocket League and Overwatch combined, and despite how unusual that sounds, it is a very entertaining and fun mode.
So, where will you be playing these new modes? Players will be able to play both Team Deathmatch and Free-For-All Deathmatch.
'Game of Thrones' Actor Crashes Leslie Jones and Seth Meyers' Watch Party
Together, the three actors watch as Daenerys flies into battle with her dragon, the first time such a weapon has been used. Neither of them had seen the episode, so they settled in with plenty of snacks and witty commentary.
Anthony Scaramucci is angrily tweeting at the journalist who got him fired
The former communications director later said that while he knew he was on the record with Lizza, "the spirit of it was off". Scaramucci told Lizza in a conversation that was picked up on CNN's "New Day" that he was in NY at the time of the call.
WW2 bomb found in Fukushima Daiichi Power Plant in Japan
Police have cordoned off the surrounding area, but the situation has not caused any effects on the decommissioning of the plant. It is considered to be the world's most serious nuclear accident since 1986's Chernobyl near the border of Ukraine.
The FFA deathmatch mode will also receive an exclusive map set in Widowmaker's family estate in France.
Finishing in the top half of a free-for-all Deathmatch will be enough to earn you credit towards weekly Arcade box unlocks, though obviously finishing top is most desirable. Plus, the aforementioned Château Guillard has not only been teased as having "great gameplay" thanks to lots of "jump pads" and "open areas" for Pharah to use for flight, and "tight Reaper corridors", but also its story and artwork is engaging as well, for it was originally home to Amélie Lacroix (AKA Widowmaker).
"I know at one point I said we would never have deathmatch in Overwatch - well, surprise, never say never", Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan said in his latest "developer update" video.
As a reminder, the Overwatch Summer Games 2017 event just kicked off earlier this week.
