The Plot: The Crown, a Netflix original series, tells the inside story of Queen Elizabeth II's reign, as the fragile social order established after the Second World War breaks apart. The show was evidently a hit, as today a teaser was released for the second season of the show.

The multi award-winning programme's second season will debut on Netflix on Friday December 8. Last season, Margaret had to accept marriage to someone other than the love of her life, to save a crisis that in the opinion of all who are supposed to know, would surely have created a crisis for the monarchy as well as Great Britain. The series is meant to last 60 episodes over six seasons, with 10 one-hour episodes per season, covering Queen Elizabeth II's entire life, and with new actors being cast every two seasons.

Fans will have to savor The Crown season 2 because it will be the last one for Foy and her television husband Matt Smith, who are being recast as the show takes a sizeable time jump forward.

Netflix's The Crown is returning for a second season.

"The Crown" Season 2 is highly anticipated by audiences. The Crown was nominated for 13 Emmys, including ones for Outstanding Actress for Foy, Supporting Actor for John Lithgow and the biggest of them all for Drama Series. Earlier this year, the series won multiple statues at the Golden Globes, SAG Awards and BAFTAs.
