Everybody loves a good system software update, and having just heard about Microsoft's wholesale revamp of their console's OS - some of which isn't actually going down too well if you skirt through certain corners of Reddit - now the changes and improvements Sony have planned for system software 5.00 on PS4 have been leaked to Eurogamer.

Eurogamer obtained a copy of the update's release notes and revealed some of the changes which will include changes to the console's account system and improved Twitch streaming on PlayStation 4 Pro.

Firmware update 5.0 was announced in July when Sony sent word it was accepting beta applications from PlayStation 4 owners.

PS4 Pro Streamers will be happy with this update, as it will allow them to stream at 1080p/60fps.

Other top-line changes include an overhaul of your console's master/sub account system, the ability to follow any user, and the addition of notifications to the PS4's quick menu.

As well, PS4 owners will soon get Xbox One-like functionality in the form of being able to follow any user's account. This will allow followers to see and share more content. Users will also be able to choose whether only existing friends or anyone can follow. According to Sony, this is just part of a series of changes to let players share content across the platform, specifically, to "encourage more sharing of content and more interactions". This means you don't have to fill up your friends list in order to get updates.

New family accounts will be able to feature multiple adult accounts in a family, able to act in a parent/guardian role and set parental controls on a per-account basis, so each child has different communications, content-viewing and spending limit privileges. Downloads can also be checked using Quick Menu.

Expect 5.00 sometime in the near future alongside an overhauled PlayStation App that isn't quite as useless as it now is.
