Revolution midfielder Kelyn Rowe scored his first worldwide goal to aid the United States in their 3-0 win over Nicaragua in Saturday's Group B finale of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Americans (2-0-1) finished tied with Panama (2-0-1) in points and goal differential but ahead on total goals (7-6) in the 12-team regional competition.

Panama will win the group unless the USA beats Nicaragua by three goals or more in the late game on Saturday.

Joe Corona got the USMNT on the board in the 36th minute in somewhat fortunate circumstances. The U.S.is now tied atop the group with Panama after squeaking out a 3-2 win over Martinique on Wednesday in Tampa.

Martinique scored two goals in a span of eight minutes to square things 2-2 against the United States before Jordan Morris was able to bail the Americans out with the game-winning score in the 76th minute.

The U.S. quickly atoned for the penalty miss when Kelyn Rowe scored his first global goal, in the 56th minute, from a lovely shot with the outside of his right foot, that took a deflection and slipped inside the near post for a 2-0 lead. They will face the third-place team from Group A or C on Wednesday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Matt Miazga headed in the USMNT's third goal. The New England Revolution midfielder made no mistake, beating Lorente to the near post.

However, Dom Dwyer and Corona saw second-half spot-kicks saved and United States appeared set to finish second to Panama in Group B.

Four minutes into the second half Dwyer was yanked down in the penalty area and the referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot. The USMNT got another opportunity with Graham Zusi taking a free kick from just outside of the box. After defender Luis Copete picked up a second yellow card for a hard foul on Agudelo, Zusi placed a ideal free kick to the back post and Matt Miazga - who earned his first start for the U.S. MNT since May 22, 2016 - headed the ball past Lorente for a 3-0 lead.
