Blake Lively set to appear in explosive new action film

Although Lively is best known for playing "It" girl Serena van der Woodsen on CW's Gossip Girl, her acting credits also include 2016's The Shallows and 2015's The Age Of Adeline.

If that wasn't enough, Blake Lively is tipped to play the lead role of spy Stephanie Patrick, with The Handmaid's Tale director Reed Morano rumoured to be at the helm. Before Morano turned to directing, the cinematographer shot Frozen River, The Skeleton Twins, Kill Your Darlings, and episodes of Vinyl. Morano's latest feature - in which she is both director and DP - I Think We're Alone Now with Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning is in post-production and will premiere in 2018.

"In Stephanie Patrick, Mark has created a unique female heroine who turns so numerous current cinematic clichés surrounding so-called "kick-ass" female leads on their head", said IM Global co-founder Stuart Ford, whose company will be producing the film alongside EON Productions. He added Morano's take is a "fresh, realistic, and bold worldwide thriller".

The film is expected to begin production in late 2017, and will film in the U.S., the U.K., Ireland, Spain, and Switzerland. Morano and Lively are one promising combo for this spy thriller.
