SIT arrests policeman for 'role' in Amarnath terror attack

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee today demanded resignation of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti led PDP-BJP Government in view of its total failure to prevent the terrorists attacks on Shri Amarnath Yatries, which is clear indication of gravity of the security situation in the valley.

According to sources, Mir's driver, Touseef Ahmad was detained by the police for questioning along with two others.

Confirming the developments, Superintendent of Police (SP) Shopian, Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar, said "Touseef was cooperating with the investigators".

MLA Mir confirmed that his driver has been arrested for investigation in a "militancy related case".

Touseef Ahmed who is part of the security wing of the J&K police is being now questioned for his alleged role in the case.

The report said that security forces suspect the operation was carried out jointly by Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.

Seven pilgrims were killed and 21 injured in the attack on the pilgrims who were travelling in a bus near Batengoo in Anantnag on Monday.

The 40-day long yatra will conclude on August 7 on "Shravan Purnima" coinciding with the Raksha Bandhan festival.
