Ministry spokesperson Pierre-Henry Brandet said the vehicle, a white Renault Megane, caught fire.

"I couldn't understand, but I find it really odd that a auto would pass (police) vans and all of a sudden spit fire, " said Pfister. France's anti-terror prosecution service has launched an investigation into the attack.
