NBA Awards: Westbrook, Harden among MVP finalists at inaugural event

The finalists for this year's MVP are the Houston Rockets' James Harden, the San Antonio Spurs' Kawhi Leonard, and the Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook. Fans will be able to watch it as it all unfolds on Monday night from New York City.

One of three basketball superstars could win the 2017 Kia NBA Most Valuable Player award tonight. The 2017 NBA Awards Show is a new format different from what fans are accustomed to during the playoffs. For ROY, nominees are Malcolm Brogdon of the Milwaukee Bucks, and teammates Joel Embiid and Dario Saric of the Philadelphia 76ers. The available live streams can be found on TNT Overtime and FuboTV.

Unfortunately, we don't have an NBA MVP vote, and Westbrook is the safe bet to take home the award after his season for the record books.

"Regardless of who wins the award, it feels like the lengthy delay in handing it out - coupled with the historic Finals performances of three non-finalists with MVP-like résumés - will take some of the shine off of it". Both Gordon and Williams have the stats to be named winners while Andre Iguodala did everything for the Warriors off the bench. Leonard had a down season defensively so it might come down to Gobert and Green. Rudy Gobert made leaps in becoming the best defensive center in the National Basketball Association while Nikola Jokic is arguably the best passing big man in the league today, but they are going to lose to the "Greek Freak" on Monday. The 2017 Awards are finally here and I couldn't be more excited.

This award is the flashiest of them all, and James Harden is a candidate for it.

Will it be Westbrook or Harden or maybe even Leonard that win NBA MVP? Many have criticized D'Antoni over the years, but the success that he had with the Rockets in elevating them in the Western Conference should earn him Coach of the Year honors.

Other awards include Executive of the Year, Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year, Sportsmanship Award, and the NBA Cares Community Assist Award.

The finalists for Defensive Player of the Year are the Golden State Warriors' big man Draymond Green, the Spurs' Leonard and the Utah Jazz's center Rudy Gober, who is also a finalist for the Most Improved Player award.

This one's easy. The Greek Freak improved in virtually every offensive category this season, earning second-team All-NBA honors amid a breakout campaign.
