Clashes mar Eid in Kashmir

Five people including two children were killed Sunday when a tree fell on a gondola at a ski resort in Indian-administered Kashmir, sending a passenger cabin crashing to the ground.

After the situation became out of control, the deceased in his own defence open fire through his service pistol on the mob, in which three people got injured. Innocent families returning from the mosques after the Eid prayers were caught. However, the crowd dispersed after almost 20 minutes.

The sporadic clashes continued in Anantnag for over an hour.

For security reasons, many ministers, senior civil and police officers offered prayers at the district police lines mosque in the city here at 6.30 am.

IANS mentioned that at least 10 protesters were injured in the clashes in Anantnag, Sopore, Kulgam, Pulwama and Pattan towns, the state police said.
