Former FBI director James Comey is "very, very good friends" with Mueller, Trump claims, "which is very bothersome".

On May 12, a day after details of a one-on-one dinner he had with Comey were reported by the New York Times, Trump issued an apparent threat to the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director, whom he had recently fired.

In light of his suspicion, Trump said in Friday's interview, he suggested he may have taped Comey in an effort to keep him honest. Trump has disputed Comey's version of a January dinner during which, according to Comey, the president asked for a pledge of loyalty.

President Donald Trump has questioned the impartiality of special counsel Robert Mueller, who is leading the probe into Russia's meddling in the USA election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign. Trump said in a clip from an interview that aired on Fox News on Friday.

The former head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation testified before a Senate committee that Trump had asked him to halt a probe into former national security adviser Michael Flynn's alleged collision with Russian Federation.
