Everton announced on Thursday afternoon that they had completed a club-record five-year deal to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

He has represented England from at under-16, under-17, under-18, under-19, under-20 and under-21 levels, also earning a call up to the full worldwide squad last season. He received his first call-up to England's senior squad in October.

"But what I think he's got which is a massive plus for him, is his mentality".

The 24-year-old leaves Ajax with two seasons remaining on his current contract after helping the Amsterdam club reach the final of this season's Europa League. "He is an honest guy, we talked about the club, about the way he wants to play and that gave me a positive feeling".

Holland midfielder Klaassen, who scored 49 goals in 163 appearances while winning three Eredivisie titles with the Dutch side, joined the Goodison Park ranks for a fee of £23.6m.
